Bleeding trees . . .

Now that Spring is just about to spring it is very tempting to give weeping trees a bit of prune.

Tempting but wrong.

The trouble is that at this time of year the sap is just about getting going. It is moving food and energy around the whole tree.

If you cut a branch now the sap will start to bleed out instead of feeding the tree. This can mean that the tree will have to go for the whole year without a proper feed.

The best time for most tree pruning is in winter while the tree is dormant.

Doing a bit of light pruning then will be fine but always remember to disinfect your pruning equipment to avoid carrying diseases around.

If your tree needs more work done on it then give me a call for a chat.
